• Jefferson was born into the home of Truman G. Ford, of Bath, New York, on September 3, 1879. His earliest memories were of his mother, Frances Abigail Calkins, praying for him and teaching him about Jesus.
Jefferson's great, great uncle on his father's side was Noah Webster of dictionary fame.
3434, p 18• To My Children.
At one of our prayer conferences at Kaimosi, Aug. 10, 1923, the Lord specially gave to me the promise of Isaiah 54:13,14: - “All thy children shall be taught of God, and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established.”
This was a very real thing to me at that time, and since it has come to me with peculiar force and joy. This morning as I was in communion with our Lord, it came to me that I should pass it on to you. And with this came the added thought that the grand-children are according to God's plan included among “thy children.” You all shall be established in righteousness as you follow the “teaching” which you shall be taught of the Lord.
I come of a long line of godly men and women. I don't know all the records nor all the generations, but I do know of here and there a powerfully used man of God among them.
The first pastor of the old North Church, Boston; and the builder and pastor of the First Church in Salem, Mass. was among them. His wife was of royal blood, of the reigning house of England at the time. She voluntarily gave up all her royal heritage to marry him and to go to the new world to preach the gospel, in what was then one of the difficult Mission Fields of the world.
I do not have a heritage that can be reckoned in earthly values, to pass on to you, but with David Livingston, I freely say, “I would far rather see my children, and grandchildren too, ambassadors of the King of heaven, than to see them shrivel down into a king of any earthly realm.
May you and yours be faithful to the high and holy calling wherewith you have been honored by the Lord of heaven and earth, is the prayer of your Father.”

Written by your Great Grandpa Jefferson Ford to his children, Clara, Esther and Arthur. This Christmas we have copied it and we are sending it to the Grandchildren, great grand children and great great Grandchildren. What a rich heritage.”
