• San Rafael, Cal., June 15, ‘05.
I cannot tell you the pleasure your good words have given us. Thanks to Tib and Riley for the happy inspiration that came to them.
Sixty years ago in the old home at Light House Point, Ogle Co., Ills., John Wesley and Philetus Sylvanus were known as the little boys. Wes was 6 and Lotus 1. The Postscript became so gigantic and the older brother made such attainments, mental and physical, while the one just before me in the line was such a natural born humorist that the only way left for myself and tribe to lead the procession was to do it
geographically.
After forty years in Minn. the transplanting has shaken us up; but as our humble home here is in a more beautiful spot than most of you youngsters have ever seen we are grateful and happy. The church here seemed to need us and we have been received so kindly we are sure the Dear Father knew we could not order our ways and so we take in deep breaths from the great pines in the front and rear of our little ranch and praise Him.
God bless you all, J. W. Martin

Individual Notes
• Dear Children, Grandchildren, All; of Father and Mother, Beloved:
Whom we wait to see, being now at home in “Our Father’s Home,” -- We send love and greeting in this far-away land. Be it ever so sunny and beautiful it still lacks the dear faces that we were happy to see sometimes, and we miss them. When from the Twin Cities, or the States, they come to brighten this new home it will seem more homelike. The heartaches we share, dear Lizzie and all, bring us nearer together and to Him “Who is touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” We thank you all for your love and care for our Clara, and now you will add Arthur and Alice to her name when you pray, for what can such helpless children do in those dark places?
We appreciate our privilege to read and now send on their long journey to Clara the good letters whose heart they will cheer.
Love to all from Mary Esther, wife of John Wesley.
