2251• [excerpts} His vocation was mechanical engineering…but Wilson Tripp, who died early this morning at his home, had his own personal bridges into the unlikely worlds of traversing challenging wilderness trails and exploring ways of improving this country’s political system.
At age 77, Mr. Tripp held the title of emeritus professor of mechanical engineering at Kansas State University.
Mr. Tripp grew up in the San Francisco area. He graduated from University of California at Berkeley and received his doctorate from University of Illinois.
Mr. Tripp married Ruth Keller on May 25, 1942, in Holton. He has lived in Manhattan since 1936.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home, one son Alan Tripp of Prairie Village; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Martin of Manhattan, and one grandchild.
