• Betsey’s obit says “Betsey E. Clark died Aug. 13, 1904, widow of Charles W. Hoyt at her home in LaFayette. She is survived by four children: Carroll E. of Illion, N.Y., Mrs. Harriet Jones of LaFayette, Mrs. Helen Merrell of Anthony, Kansas, and Mrs. May Casler of Geneva, N.Y. and brothers and sisters in LaFayette.”118, p 2

• The many friends of Mrs. Charles Hoyt were pained to learn of her death caused from heart trouble on Sat. August 13, 1904. The funeral was held on Tues., Rev. A. Hannaford officiated. She leaves three daughters and one son, Carroll Hoyt of Remington; Mrs. Helen Merrill [sic] of Anthony, Kansas, Mrs. Hattie Jones of this place and Mrs. May Casler of Geneva, N.Y. She was 70 years old.1749
