He died sometime between the payment of this quit rent tax [9 June 1713], and 13 April 1715, when the town of Bedford laid out four acres of land “to Joseph Holmes, upon ye accompt of a former grant from ye town of Bedford to John Holmes, deceaced.”2435, p 276
• When researching this family line, care must be exercised in distinguishing between this John Holmes, Sr. and John Holmes (1639-1729) of Beverly, Co York, EN, who was also one of the proprietors of Bedford, Westchester Co, NY.2451, p 1
