• According to the Bedford genealogies, Zachariah and Mary (Lawrence) Roberts were the grandparents of Mary Holmes who married George Mills in Bedford. Zachariah Roberts was town clerk and justice of the peace. He was a dissenter against the Church of England and was summoned in 1705 to appear before the NY authorities on various charges including procuring passage of an act, at the town meeting, enjoining upon the people not to pay Mr. Prichard (the Rector at Rye) anything.1665, p 5
