• It is recorded that on the second Monday in June, 1779, he was mentioned by the General Assembly of Rhode Island for exchange of prisoners with the enemy on the island of Rhode Island, since he with Joseph (1414) and Stephen Congdon (1416) were taken by the enemy. This Samuel Congdon was known as “Fat Sam,” as he was a very heavy man, as was one of his sons, George Congdon.
2555, pp 79-80• In addition to these children, there is indication of two more daughters who were minus 16 years old at the time of the 1774 Rhode Island Colonial Census, but these daughters were not mentioned in the Will Account of Samuel Congdon recorded in the South Kingstown, R.I. Probate Court on 7/10, 1818 and on 7/29, 1818, from a Will dated in 1815.
