• Was there an elder Andrews, father of the three Messengers? Coddington [Stamford Genealogical Society Bulletin, 9-10 [1967]: 78:84] says there is no evidence. Did this fictional Andrew have a wife Sarah? “Equally imaginary,” says Coddington. Nor had he or Donald Lines Jacobus seen any evidence that they came from Yorkshire.2449, p 353

• According to records kept by Gov. John Winthrop of Boston, Mass., Andrew arrived June 26, 1637 on the ship, Hector, with the group of dissenters led by John Davenport. He came with his wife, Sarah, and three children, Andrew, Edward and Henry. The name of Andrew Messenger appears in Boston, in the “Book of Possessions,” page 41, as owner of land abutting James Brown’s half acre.2445, p 2
