3477• James Willard “Will” Andersen, longtime COD missionary, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2015.
Will was born on December 8, 1939 at Kijabe, Kenya. His parents, Earl John Andersen and Esther Swift Ford, were COD supported missionaries in Kenya with Africa Inland Mission (AIM). Will attended Rift Valley Academy at Kijabe, Kenya and then came to California.
While at Cal State Fullerton, he attended Church of the Open Door where he met Jeanne Lerma. They married on December 8, 1962, finished university, and moved to Kenya in 1966 as missionaries under AIM.
Between 1966-1982 they taught at Chebara and then planted churches at Kilgoris in Masailand. Will built school classrooms and church buildings and started 12 new churches. Today all of those churches are still going.
In 1983 Will and Jeanne returned to serve at Rift Valley Academy at Kijabe. In 1988, due to health problems, Will and Jeanne returned to the U.S. where he worked at Church of the Open Door.
Will Andersen was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, who raised four sons and four more children God brought into their lives. He ministered to many other people both spiritually and practically throughout his life. Will devoted his life to spreading the Gospel both in Kenya and the United States. He was a wonderful preacher and storyteller.
