• John S. Andersen, who lived most of his life in Redwood City and was a state champion power lifter, died Thursday when his motorcycle apparently went out of control and overturned in Morgan Hill. He was 28.
Mr. Andersen was a self-employed welder for the past seven years and made his home in San Jose for the past three years. He was a native of Redwood City and had attended Sequoia High School.
He was a member of Iron Works Gym of Campbell.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Helen and John Newton of Redwood City; sisters, Kathy Grenzow and Shirley Roderick, both of Redwood City, and Nancy Newton of Upland, Calif.; two stepsisters, Lilsa Ramsey of Boulder Creek and Pandora Tribble of Los Gatos; and his grandparents, Helen and Harry Kingsley of Yucca [Valley], Calif.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City. Burial will follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.3631, p 2
