Individual Notes
• The pension file came from the National Archives. I was very surprised that I got it so quickly. I will mail you copies, but I thought you might like to know what I found. Besides Isaac's pension application, there was also Harriet's request for a widow's pension. She completed the application in 1892 at the age of 73. She was living in Lebanon, PA. Isaac died on December 9, 1891. Harriet and Isaac were married on August 15, 1867 in Carlisle. She was married under the name of Harriet Lesher. Now here's the strange part (nothing is easy with these Leshers). Harriet claimed that she had only been married once prior to marrying Isaac Walt. Her first husband died on November 19, 1863. The two witnesses who signed her claim were P. H. Lesher and Harriet Logan. The application is an official claim, so I can't imagine that she would have lied. I think we need a death certificate for Harriet.
