• Charles Hazelton or Hazleton, was in Rhode Island before 1684, for that year he deeded to his son Charles, land he bought of Captain Edward Richard of Newport. He then called himself Charles Hazelton of King’s Town. In 1688, he served on the grand jury. In 1693, he was of Powtowomut Neck and was warned off to await the pleasure of the king. The name of his first wife is not known, but he married second, Mrs. Hannah (Parsons) Matteson. His children of record are only two but he may have had others.2472, p 217
