Individual Notes
• The 1840 census for Ohio shows Emeline Burwell as the family head living in Huron, Ohio, a small town on the coast of Lake Erie. No males lived in her household, and four females did, one 10-15, one 15-20, one 40-50, and one 60-70. My interpretation of these numbers is that Emeline was already a widow in 1840, or else her husband Lynas was elsewhere on the census date.3118, p 7

• In 1849, Emeline’s obituary in the Hartford paper says she lived in St. Claire Co., Michigan, in the town of Newport [now Marine City]. This would mean that she moved with or soon after her daughter, to the new home Lucy had established with William Gallagher.3118, p 8
