• This Bible was given to Elenor H. Lumley Johnston (1830-1858) by her mother, Elenor Nelson Lumley, and bears the inscription on the flyleaf: “Given to my daughter Elenor H. Johnston, April 22, 1856.”
• She relates a statement from a Mrs. David Anderson, a descendant of Eleanor Nelson Lumley, from a Bible source submitted by Mrs. Walter Breuer, appearing in the May, 1940 edition of the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research magazine. Carol Holstine adds that she has not corroborated the statement.
