• I have been twice married. I got a girl from old Yorkshire by the name of Dinah Lumley, a very industrious woman. She lived about ten years with me and then died of dropsy. We had two children when she left me, a boy and a girl. After that I married another prudent young woman [Charlotte Mills] from the state of New York. A very industrious helpmeet, and by her I have six children, three boys and three girls, which makes ten in family.1406, pp 9-10

• His tombstone was uncovered in 1948 where seemingly it had lain for many years covered by the turf and blueberry bushes in the Southampton Cemetery. This cemetery is on the land Lot No. 10, formerly owned by him, and at that time known as Harrison Hill. In this cemetery was located the Wesleyan Chapel, the first church in Southampton.1403, p 3
