• The sons David and Hans Nelson left Nova Scotia for the United States; never heard of them again.
680• Two sons, David and Hans Nelson, left Nova Scotia for the United States, but the mail system in those days being very imperfect, very little or nothing was ever heard of them.
1703, p 4• The information on Hans Nelson came from the Cumberland Co. Estate Papers.
“Estate of Hans Hamilton Nelson, filed by 29 April 1840
Hans Hamilton Nelson of Ragged Reef on the South Joggins in Co. Cumberland March 1839 - to John Sinnet to going to Amherst for Doctor £ 0.10.0 L ,£ 0.15.0 Barronsfield, 27 April 1839.”
686, p 2 That is all that I found. It certainly sounds like the right family. I have no idea if he was married or not.
1733• There was a hand-written pedigree chart in my family that says Hans Hamilton was the 8th of 9 children of Elizabeth Hamilton born before 1780 in Scotland, and David Nelson born about 1786 in county Fermagh or Fermanagh, Ireland. He and his brother David “went to the United States and nothing was ever heard of them.” He was my 2nd great uncle.
