• John Bass settled first at Braintree, was at Lebanon 1708, bought 110 acres of land of Rev. Samuel Whiting, in Windham, for £105, Feb. 21, 1710-11, where he settled, it being on the road from Windham Center to Scotland, now within the bounds of the latter town.1439, p 90
• John and Elizabeth (Neale) Bass moved to Windham, Connecticut, now Scotland, where they built a house which belonged to their descendants until 1920. John was a weaver, and among the couple’s 10 children was Henry.1346, p 10
