• Christian Bowman, was born in Pennsylvania, York county, in 1784, where he resided until 1809, at which time he located in Ohio, taking up a quarter-section of wild land, upon which he built his log cabin, and at once commenced to render the land fit for agricultural purposes, with his characteristic energy.2261, p 376

• The Christian Bowman Sr. from whom Mathias Walter purchased his land...was born 1784 in York County, Pa. and came to Elk Run Township in 1809 and purchased a quarter section of wild land.3375
