• ...that he served the full period of sixty days in the military service of the United States, in the war of 1812, that his is the identical Henry Walter who enlisted in Captain Warner’s Company under Colonel Codgraves’s Mackinaw battery, Colonel Cogham commander in March 1814, and was honorably discharged (discharge lost) at Painesville, Ohio, after six months steady service, was in the battle of Mackinaw, and worked at building a fort, to wit Fort Gratiot at outlet of Lake Huron, served his full time of 6 months, lost his papers years ago obtained heretofore a land warrant from Government on account of said service, that he served under Major Roller and Colonel Codgrave, that he at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the government giving them aid or comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority or pretended authority, in hostility to the United States; that he support the Constitution of the United States, that his is not in receipt of a pension under any previous act, that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States, under the provision of the act approved February 14th 1871, that his Post office is at Elkton, County of Columbiana, State of Ohio; that his domicile or place of abode is in Elk Run township, County of Columbiana, State of Ohio. 17 April A.D. 1871
