• The first adult person that died in the district was Prosper Paine Clark, a son of Rev. Moses Clark. He went out one morning to chop rail-cuts, and not coming home to dinner, he was found by his father lying on his face, on the ground, with a rail-cut on the back of his neck, dead. This was in March, 1828. He was about 25 years old.550, p 876
